Summary
The Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing programs that ensure workplace safety, environmental compliance, and employee well-being. The role involves regulatory compliance, risk assessment, training, and fostering a culture of safety within the organization.
Responsibilities
Ensure the workplace is compliant with Federal OSHA, and other state oversight agencies.
Provide direction and guidance regarding implementation and maintenance of EHS related programs including but not limited to: LOTO, arc flash, hazard communication, machine guarding, fall protection, powered industrial trucks, environmental programs, new employee safety indoctrination, hearing protection, PPE assessment, fire drills, first-aid teams, and safety committees.
Apply lean manufacturing and EHS management system principles to the development and deployment of EHS programs to drive effective, efficient, and scalable implementation.
Coordinate with HR in the management of worker’s compensation claims, accident investigations, and return to work employee management.
Develop and implement safety programs, practices, and procedures to reduce employee accidents and meet OSHA requirements.
Work with outside loss control representatives and insurance companies in minimizing losses and controlling costs.
Conduct EHS program audits and develop sound recommendations for systemic corrective actions.
Support management in day-to-day operations from a safety perspective, and provide PPE solutions, and information needed to preserve company safety programs and policies.
Responsible for emergency medical response initiatives, including providing first aid, assessing and stabilizing injured individuals before transport, and maintenance of first aid kits, AEDs and medical supplies in compliance with health and safety regulations.
Coach and develop direct reports to advance the department’s growth.
Skills
Ability to conduct risk assessments, identify workplace hazards, and implement controls to mitigate risks.
Experience in developing and implementing safety programs, policies, and procedures to promote a culture of safety within the organization.
Skill in investigating accidents, near misses, and incidents to determine root causes and prevent recurrence.
Ability to analyze incident data and implement corrective actions.
Knowledge of emergency response procedures, evacuation plans, and crisis management protocols. Ability to coordinate and lead emergency response drills and exercises.
Ability to conduct training sessions and engage employees in safety initiatives.
Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
Proficiency in incident reporting software and data analysis tools.
Requirements & Qualifications
5+ years of experience in EHS management, preferably in manufacturing, construction or industrial settings.
Possess a working knowledge of a wide breadth of EHS topics and regulatory topics (OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, Workers Compensation, etc.).
Experience with safety management systems such as ISO 14001 or ISO 45001.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health & Safety Technician (OHST) or similar credentials.
EMT-Basic, EMT-Advanced, or Paramedic certification preferred.

Education
